Following with interest as we fly from edinburgh to LHR in July then the following day from LGW to Barbados. Staying overnight at Hampton by Hilton at Gatwick so had planned to get bus transfer. Return journey isn’t an issue as we are into Gatwick and then up to Edinburgh so no transfer required.

We did the exact same flight last August and used Blackberry Cars. Our experience was very positive and I would recommend.

We had exactly this problem last year. Once we actually were in the car, it was fine. Had to call them 5 times to get the driver/car though. Thankfully we arrived the evening before our main flight so weren't under time pressure.

Was this also booked through BA transfers?

Yes - BA Transfers.
But even though it was a bit of a pain, I would likely use them again as there were a lot of good reviews and any company can have issues.

Very true - our experience last year with Blackberry Cars wasn't perfect, but they get very positive reviews generally.

How much time would you allow for a private car transfer from Heathrow to Gatwick on a mid-week morning - aiming to arrive in Gatwick by 10am?

I know there is always the possibility of an unexpected delay, but do you think 2 hours should be enough time in average traffic at that time in the morning?

That will no doubt be cheaper for you than National Express - let me know how it goes please
