What time should we leave?
We are flying up to New York on our way home from Florida to see our son. Our flight is 11.45 am. What time should we leave our villa at Highlands Reserve, I’m worried about the I4 traffic. Thanks in advance.

I hate being late for anything. Also you have rush hour and early flight congestion to contend with. I would be leaving at 7.30am and having breakfast at the airport.

If you're heading to MCO personally I would use 417 not the I-4.
Very little experience of internal domestic flights so I don't know how long they recommend for check-in and security. Are you parking up and leaving a car or returning a hire car to the garage? We stay in Highgate just up the road from you and normally allow an hour door to door then add the car, check-in, security bits to that. Google maps says 40 minutes but I live in the real world of traffic jams and RTCs. Mick

Can't comment on an internal flight but second the recommendation of leaving plenty of time and breakfasting at the airport. Traffic is so unpredictable I'd much rather be early than cut it fine or risk missing a flight
I also meant to say that I'd check the sat nav recommended time, add time for dropping the car off etc, follow the airline guidance, and then add a bit of extra time on top of that, hence the breakfast comment agreement... but I always try to get places early! Edited at 09:33 PM. Reason: More detail |

Thanks everyone-I was thinking the same as most of you, set off early! Had a good flight out today, Man to MCO less than 8 hours and a half empty plane!

Just to let you know, we left our villa on US27 just before 8, stopped for $5 worth of fuel as the warning light came on and still got to the airport before 9! Just chilling now before security-got TSA pre check as well. Here we come New York! Thanks for everyone’s advice. Xx
