Probably put the order on a credit card for the Miles I suspect.

The actual order is for 14 with an option for an additional 6.

The order was placed a couple of months ago, however, airline/manufactures tradition is to wait until a large airshow such as Paris or Farnborough to announce it.

Thank you WM, your link didn't work but I found THIS ONE that hopefully does I note VA are staying with the RR engine, the Trent 7000 in this instance.

Unfortunate, for us, as VA have reduced their PE product to 18.5" of width and 36" of pitch, with no foot rest, we'll have to look further afield for our flights to the US.

IAG the owners of BA and others has announced the ordering of 14 Airbus A321XLRs, 8 for Iberia and 6 for Aer Lingus.

They have also signed a letter of intent to purchase, wait for it...

200 Boeing 737 Max aircraft!

Not sure that this is publicly a good thing to do, with the aircraft still grounded

Must have got a great desk from Boeing...

Can imagine that Airbus have probably given the owners of Virgin a nice discount to sign on the dotted line for those aircraft (as most manufacturers do).

Did read somewhere that the A350s and 777-9 will have seating 10 abreast - that is not good.

The article in the link from ChrisS says "will use the -900 version of the re-engined aircraft to replace Airbus A330-300s and -200s". So my question is what, if anything, will replace the ageing 747's on the Orlando route? Will they swap the A330-300 and 200's onto the Gatwick and Manchester etc routes?
I don't like the sound of the PE seat width being reduced either

After the initial delivery of the first 4 A350's that are going to LHR the remaining 8 are supposed to be going to LGW/MAN to replace the 747's starting late 2020.
