Mobile Tolls

We are hiring a car from Alano and will start our holiday around florida mainly Miami and Orlando from the 19th Oct for 2 weeks. We will bound to hit a few tolls. My question: what is the cheapest and best way to pay tolls? Originally I thought SunPass but I hear you have to pay $3.95 a day under Alamo as well as the tolls itself. Is that still the best option or can I pay tolls more cheaply by avoiding the daily $3.95 rental charge?

If you're flying into MCO then there's nothing better (cheaper ) than this whilst still on free trial programme. Hundreds of posts on here saying how good it is.

If not into MCO then Alamo Sunpass is about the best scheme. Paying cash is an option but sadly many cashless tolls around Miami especially.

All described here

We are flying to Miami as in MIA. I assume that means the free trial doesn't apply 😥

VTP web site says only at MCO at present.

Using Sunpass is your best option and, as you can see from my other links, Alamo is best. You can get to the WDW area from MIA using the US27 toll free if you want.

Previously I have used Alamo as they were reasonable price, good service and their toll system is one of the cheapest so I never bothered about going through an e-toll.

After the last two visits, where the service and selection of vehicles have been poor, I have switched to Hertz, booking through DFCH. The visitor toll pass system website has allowed me to reserve one for June next year at MCO, so we will see how this goes.

Thanks Mick for the link.

It's an extra $19.75 for the added convenience and if your flying into Miami (although you can find a toll free route) you'll need it, because the chances are if you don't know where you're going you'll find an unmanned toll.

just look at it as a minuscule percentage of what you've paid for you holiday.

Is the Hertz system the same as the Alamo system in that the maximum admin fees are $19 or $20 per rental period?

All explained in the link in my post #3

There's no upper cap with Hertz. and nearly $5 a day
