One thing about the 27 as against the Turnpike, there are many many traffic lights. Always seem to be on red for us. Can slow your trip down considerably.

Exactly why I can't see the appeal! Highway 27 isn't I27. It isn't an Interstate designed for long distance travel. The number of traffic lights between I4 and my Toyota dealership or daughter's orthodontist is enough to put me off using it to Miami. I know it becomes more rural but unless you are actually travelling to/from the Haines City area I don't understand going that way. A quick check on Google Maps shows I Drive to Miami Airport is almost an hour longer via H27.

There are only three service stops on the Turnpike between Orlando and Miami.

Just one little warning about the Service stops on the turnpike - they are in the middle between the 2 carriageways, that means you enter them from the outside (left) land.
