Have you tried taking the drawer out and giving it a good clean? They can get very bummed up with stuff.
Also - do you leave the door ajar when not in use?

Hiya Efan - try a very hot wash, with an empty machine, using white vinegar and bicarb - add bicarb to the deterget drawer and vinegar into the drum. For what it's worth I never use the drawer on my washer, I put the detergent on top of the load in the drum, I've never had an issue and it stops the drawer getting gunked up and smelly! I leave the door ajar to ensure it dries completely after use.

Another area is the rubber seal around door / often has folds of rubber and mould can grow in the folds

Aye Ant, washing machines with their folds are just so precious, like a Shar Pei, and just as smelly...
Binned our Whirlpool last year, it appeared to have 747 illusions based on the noise from the blasted thing - we're now the proud owners of a direct motion (no belt) Haier, and what a washer! I keep checking if its running as it's so quiet, even on spin... cheap too at £220.

We usually use liquid pods but used to get a stinky machine. So now every so often we do powder washes too and have never had a problem since.

Bag of soda crystals, with the washing powder vanish etc in supermarket. Cost barely a pound. Run through on hot wash. Also try to keep door open often to ventilate.
There’s also a new calgon green Liquid on the market that’s pricier version that does same thing...
