The US election had always been pretty big news over here and I avidly have followed it for as long as I can remember. In fairness there usually isnt much else happening in the UK but I have for years go up early to watch the results roll in - not sure I will this time as I need to control my BP better . . . . . But many of my US friends now living in London are planning to get up around 3am in London and gave a virtual group so I guess my phone will be pinging so might as well get up with them ... what happens in the USA has ripple effects worldwide unlike ours which really doesn’t make THAT much difference in reality

I can’t watch it anymore, whilst it’s a major event in the USA, do we really need to be immersed in it? The BBC coverage is like a Biden promo video. Meanwhile on itv you have the presidents “friend” Piers Morgan pontificating constantly on what needs to be happening in the USA, who cares ? Let’s sort our own issues out first ... if the MSM spent more time on local and National issues we might get them resolved in a more timely fashion ... I’ll be glad when the US election is over. Though I think it will run for some time afterwards though... as Washington DC boards up it’s store windows it can only mean they expect trouble on the streets whatever happens... Biden or Trump... some choice for our American cousins...

I was just wondering with all the obscenely huge amounts of money raised to fund an election campaign. what would happen if a candidate said they were only going to make one promotional advert to be screened nation wide. Then all the money not used on ads would be used to help some of the most disadvantaged during the pandemic. I think a grand gesture but they wouldn't be president. Sad don't yer think

I know the news can edit what they want but both sides seem really passionate, here they'd be lucky to get a man and his dog turn up

I remember being woken by a huge cheer middle of the night which told me there were alot of Floridians happy with the result last time. Wish I was there.

A friend of ours in Maryland is telling us how worried they are that shops and restaurants are being boarded up. She has real concerns.
Hopefully she will be able to say after it is all over how this was just an over-cautious move...

Watching American News and seeing Federal buildings, shopping outlets and even private shops being boarded up is so sad.
What an indictment on one of the greatest Nations on Earth.

I have friends and a lot of ex work colleagues that are DC based and they are worried, very worried, this evening. AS you say they have a feeling trouble is brewing ... I am sending them my best wishes and love - noting else we can do but hope for the best (for me the most pressing issue of the moment is what is or may happen stateside - lockdown etc is taking a back seat)
