I think if we start censoring things from the past as they might offend now then we’re on a slippery slope. Who gets to decide what songs are offensive. Just a few off the top of my head that may offend
Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones
Your so gay Katy Perry
Picture to Burn - Taylor Swift
One in a million - Guns and Roses
Money for nothin’ - Dire Straits
Delilah - Tom Jones
It’s Cold Outside - Various
Where is the line drawn. Who decides
They’re have been threads on here about how old Disney films could be viewed offensive. Every one seems ok that they’re putting disclaimers with the films. Why can’t there just be a disclaimer before a song that may offend some people

This version I think?

"Oh you are a slightly germ ridden child,
Contaminated in the manner of a waste material receptacle cover,
When he's advised of the serious state of affairs.
You'll get serious admonishment from your father"

Written by Stan Kelly who died in 1914. Doesn't scan too well though.

I throw in a couple as well with some dodgy lines.
ABBA when I kissed the teacher ( if title isn't bad enough)
He hit me and it felt like a kiss.
The crystals.
But think there is a shed load more.
Heyho political correct police are on the prowl at the BBC.

Yes, she changed it to "get told off by your da"
Sad.
Love its 60's Cilla version. Evocative.

As others have said, lots of songs have had lyrics radically rewritten for broadcast,.
The example I always think of is F*** You, CeeLo Green. Great song.

I’m astonished that so many are so upset about the word in FTONY, especially in the greater scheme of things that are going on. If people (even if they are a minority) are upset by it, then why not change it, it’s no skin off my nose.
And, in the context of FTONY the word used is more than “an upset”, it’s a horrible slur on a specific group in society.

to be fair in the context of the song its used a slur as in useless/bum rather than offensive in that way...?

which is what i meant with the OP ie/ the context

anyway will always divide opinion & always interesting to hear peoples views
