Received English thanks to intensive elocution lessons to rid me of my Yorkshire accent (not my choice, a boarding school thing) but apparently I sound Yorkshire over the phone.

I still have a soft east coast Scottish accent although I left aged 18 and have lived overseas and in London for many years now. I'm often asked if I'm Australian or Canadian. DH is East London born and bred, but well spoken as a result of a career in Civil Service. Kids have well spoken London accents, but that's partly due to me correcting all the bad habits and grammar when they were little, eg ain't, nuffink, we was, etc!

I once gave DD and a few friends a lift and they giggled all the way home in the car when I was speaking to them. Turns out DD can do a mean impression of my accent and they couldnt believe it when they heard me for the first time.

I’ve said it on here before and I’ve just been reminded, I sometimes read people’s posts in what I think their accent is!
I read Sues, Sandras and Olgas in a cockney accent, Tom’s in a welsh accent, etc
I read MH’s in a squeaky accent

My accent is Yorkshire 😊 I lost a lot of my accent when DH was in the army, as we were away for 20 years.
Been back home for 14 years and it’s quite strong again 🤗
