Remembrance Day

So tomorrow will be so different to remember our war dead. DH was in the army for 22 years and we have only missed Remembrance Day once when in WDW. Tomorrow we will not be able to attend due to the hideousness that is COVID. Please everyone take the time to pause tomorrow and pay your respects.

We will be on the door step as will friends who live right across the street fron the memorial who’s family and ours and friends names are there

We will also be on the doorstep. we would normally be taking part in the service at our local memorial.
Just finished watching the festival of remembrance on BBC . It was very emotional and very different but still comforting to know it still went ahead

Also just watched the Festival of Remembrance and though that it was wonderfully executed bearing in mind the limitations that had to be followed.

Like all above we watched as usual and it was a fitting tribute to all who served and died and for all who had a part to play.
Last year we where in London to see les mis and it happened to be Remembrance Sunday. Our first ever chance to see this and it filled us with pride and compassion for all involved.

Let’s not forget Armistice day (or Remembrance Day) is the 11th - Wednesday and that’s the day of some of the most poignant services too including one on Whitehall. The Sunday before it is Remembrance Sunday.

Traditionally I have always been in Whitehall on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month for the service there

We will watch the service on the television. My teenagers have already been warned that they will need to switch their gadgets off !

On Wednesday, my son will play the drums in a parade at school. They have their own Corps, attached to the CCF, and they have been practicing marching socially distanced as they are from a mix of year groups. Someone will play the Last Post. Whilst this is usually done in an assembly, it will all be outdoors and all lessons will stop at 11am. I am a community nurse; I usually pull over to a war memorial if I can, and listen to the radio coverage. For us, although we will watch the service today, Wednesday will be the real focus.
