ah yes we end up with doggy bags and a fridge of mystery items after a few days in a US hotel. She does pick away at them later but I agree it's not ideal with the dining plan!

- Wishlists! Pre-Trip Top 3’s
- Big Fat Data Edition - Dining Update Our Top 3’s Holiday is getting close now and time for final checks on the plans. What are each of us most looking forward to about the trip? Here we have Top 3 target Snacks to get, Characters to meet and Merch/Shopping items for DW, DD and I. DW: 1 Chips (Yorkshire Fish Bar/EPCOT UK) 2 Millefeuille (Boulangerie des Halles/EPCOT France) 3 Cheese Box (Beach Club Marketplace?) First part of a confusing entry from DW. 1 made me lol after I joked she liked to hang around World Showcase eating chips . I don’t think chips can be bought separately and not for a snack credit (she may have done so last time). That said, see original post and the comment about haggling skills. It’s more than possible she’ll cut some sort of deal . Millefeuille is easy by comparison and she did buy cheese boxes from Marketplace last time but I’m dubious that these are a snack credit (if they still do them) as they were quite large. BTW we did some of this over Whatsapp. Picture below with names changed for GDPR purposes DW cements her relationship as the George W Bush of autocorrect, Gubby Bear (who?) and Darts Vader (LOOOL!) DD: 1 Fudge Mud Slide or Milky Way Sundae (Beaches & Cream) 2 Cookie Ice-Cream Sandwich (Magic Kingdom) 3 Steak ‘not Disney’ (not Disney) Did I mention that DD likes ice-cream She REALLY likes ice-cream. Last time we went she (aged 9) ate about 80% of the enormous Milky Way Sundae by herself and had another large ice-cream in EPCOT a few hours later. It wasn't quite this tall but you get the idea: I’m also a little proud of raising a daughter who sees steak as a snack . She may change her mind on the ‘not Disney’ after Yachtsman Steakhouse and a couple of the other signatures but we should fulfil her wish at The Palm (Hard Rock Hotel) and there’s good meat planned at Texas de Brasil too. Me: 1 Coldstone Creamery/Peanut Butter Cup Perfection (CityWalk) 2 Voodoo Doughnut/Chuckles or ODB (CityWalk) 3 Salted Caramel Cupcake (EPCOT Germany) 2/3 for CityWalk made me realise I’m more excited by Universal snacks than the Disney ones. Dining plan fail! Anything peanut butter, salted caramel or red velvet has my interest here. Character meets is not something we do a tonne of but we have some favourites old and new that we love to meet and will seek out in the parks. DW: 1 Pluto (Magic Kingdom?) 2 Darts Vader (on the oche in a galaxy far far away) 3 Chewy (Hollywood Studio Launch Bay) The other DW Whatsapp entry ‘Gubby Bear’ thankfully hasn’t even made the Urban Dictionary She hasn’t seen Country Bears Jamboree yet so it can’t be one of them. Did you mean...a Gummy Bear? Duffy Bear? It may remain forever a mystery Pluto it’s just a case of where to meet him outside of a character meal. Chewy is easy to find. Darts Vader presumably meets in the Rose and Crown most evenings with Obi Wan Hundred and Eighty DD: 1 Belle (Enchanted Tales/Magic Kingdom?) 2 Minnie Mouse (Cape May Cafe) 3 Jasmine (EPCOT Morocco?) This one caught me out a little because she’s not mentioned any character meet requests before. I was expecting a Whatever! Minnie meet was already planned but now need to work out how to bag the other two. Maybe an Akershus ADR should be added and I could also secure the elusive Norwegian fish for the EPCOT t-shirt challenge (see earlier posts!)? Me: 1 Chewy (Hollywood Studio Launch Bay) 2 Minnie Mouse (Cape May Cafe) 3 BB-8/Betty Boop (Hollywood Studio Launch Bay/Universal Studios) Spot the Star Wars geek! This will have to do until they add a meet with Zootopia’s donut loving cop Benjamin Clawhauser. Loved Zootopia I might change my mind on BB-8 though if he looks a bit naff when we’re waiting and switch to Betty Boop at Universal instead (an early crush what can I say). DW: 1 Seven for all Mankind Jeans (Outlets hopefully because these aint cheap ) 2 Trainers (Nike clearance store or wherever the deals are) 3 Louis Vuitton Doc Martens (over my dead body) DW not exactly in the Disney spirit here and hopefully was trolling me on No.3 at least (1 she has previous). Suspect DW will pick up something Pluto or Topolino (Italian Mickey) and/or a Xmas tree bauble. DD: 1 Nice jeans - 7 4 Mankind ( Outlets/over my dead body again) 2 Millennial Pink and Rose Gold Minnie Ears (Where?) 3 Trainers (Nike clearance store or wherever the deals are) Aaaaggghhhh! I had seen this trend coming DD now fits into some of DW’s smaller clothes and they’ve been getting increasingly close on shopping matters. The expensive jeans thing needs to be knocked on the head because 90% of her clothes are of the H&M price-range at the moment. My first counter-move is a threat to buy a pair myself The ears I’m worried will see us trekking everywhere, a bit like my childhood trying to find a holiday beanie hat for DF for the first half of any trip. Tried and failed to convince DD to buy ears in advance on Etsy Me: 1 US States logo t-shirt (EPCOT USA) 2 BB-8 Sipper (Hollywood Studios/Backlot Express) 3 GoPro Hero ? (Electronics Store/Mall) 50 States Challenge. One Day! Loved a picture of a USA States logo t-shirt from EPCOT and keen to add that as the basis for some sort of future trip (bucket list 50 US States!). The BB-8 sipper is epically cute and I’m also down for a GoPro as my belated birthday present, buying in Florida as it’s so much cheaper but not certain on the model just yet. Onto the cost-tracking. I’m going to report live for as long as I can keep up but I’m not going to track costs live. That’s because I’m planning to note numbers down and keep receipt photos then churn out stats and analysis after we get back. Everything looks better in a chart Thinking of working out stuff like average costs or total spends for: Breakfast vs Lunch vs Dinner vs Snacks Apps vs Mains vs Desserts vs Drinks Disney Signatures vs Non Signatures Spends DW, DD, me Deluxe Dining Plan value +/- Food & Drink vs Tax vs Service By Park, By Hotel & Other Snack Credit Spend Disney vs Universal vs Offsite Dining Update Few tweaks to the dining. Travel day it’s now just me planning a Premier Inn breakfast. The other two have lounge access (and business class!) via a companion voucher and apparently there’s a new and improved British Airwys lounge at Gatwick. So they’ll mainly eat in the lounge albeit DD has a free breakfast at Premier Inn too so may grab a quick snack first. These arrangements should make for a more peaceful life as DW and I are guaranteed to annoy each other on any travel day. Inevitable truths of an Orlando holiday... Breakfast on Day 1. Yum and who says I’m going to put on weight Breakfast by Day 16. It’s Chriiistmaaassss! No changes on the Disney plan yet. I’m contemplating Akershus for the DD Princess meets mentioned above but really it needs to be a breakfast and haven’t yet worked out if this is feasible. Will wait to see if she really wants to meet them or was just filling out her top 3 Then finally on the Universal days I would like to squeeze Toothsome in. Wish we had an extra day at Universal, even just for the dining there are several places at CityWalk we want to try. Not all of them open for lunch which limits the ability to get around them all. Single digit day the next milestone and it cannot come quickly enough

I'm loving the build up to your trip! It's really making me chuckle.
I daren't ask DH who/what he's looking forward as I'm not sure he would be able to come up with such a comprehensive list as your DW, gubby bear must be one of those really hard to find unusual character meet and greets that people spend ages trying to track down you'll have to let us know when and where gubby meets his adoring fans as we will all want to add this rare character to our lists As for Jasmine, you have the orld showcase, or I've also seen her by Aladdins carpets in MK. And I'm pretty sure we've met Pluto in Dinoland at AK, hopefully he still hangs around there...perhaps you are right though adding akershus to meet the princesses might be a good idea. As you should get both Belle and Jasmine, we've met Ariel, Snow White, Cinderella and Aurora there too.

We'll keep our eyes peeled for Gubby Not sure if the 80's Gummy Bear cartoon was Disney but already have a tremendously irritating pre-holiday earworm from the theme tune 'Gubby bear, dancing here and there and everywhere'
For now I've added an Akershus breakfast ADR although it's pending a proper conversation with DD. Pluto in Dinoland is a great tip, thanks! Looking forward to your next pre-trip update --------------------------------------------- While I think about it, made some changes to the restaurants list in the first post. Added Akershus and the solo meals (Trails End breakfast, Tutto Italia, Coral Reef, Spice Road Table ADRs). Also switched Vivo Italian Kitchen at CityWalk for Mamma Della's at Portofino Bay hotel

Ooooo thank you both ... I didn't realise Pluto was in Dinoland! I will probably end up cancelling our Chef Mickey's reservation and just see him there instead as he's the only character we won't have seen!
We have Akershus booked too. Not long now CMG! I think it's come round so fast don't you? X

You see I'd say Duffy Bear (the unnecessary 2nd EPCOT mascot) but there's no way DW knows who he is. I've had to stop mentioning it at home because she then calls me Gubby Bear which is obviously
Yes it flies apart from at work when it crawls. Double digits I always feel is the big milestone to get to and you're nearly there! Not to make you too jealous but look what came through the post today from the Mouse The envelope holds an A5 folder with a letter confirming the booking, 4 luggage tags, a map/sheet of low value vouchers and a booklet of info about the parks (like the average planning obsessed DIBB'er needs that ). It arrived 15 days before we're due to check in if anyone is interested in that info.

It’s single digit day. Only one thing for it...the Single Digit Dance!
Are those Gubby Bears in the background? Final report title reveal to follow next week (indecisive, me?) and then we’re away. Oh and a couple more restaurant tinkers: - Mama Della’s (which was Vivo) is now Bice, another Italian restaurant, also at the Portofino - Bob Marley has turned into Toothsome which is a shame but we were worried giving DD spicy food on travel home day might backfire (literally ).
