driving test! (updated)

I sat my driving test again recently after getting in to trouble for being a bit heavy footed

It was a real eye opener as it was 25 years since I sat it the first time.

On my first lesson my instructor said it’s called a driving test but think of it as a looking test. This was to try and emphasise how important it was to always do your checks, mirrors, 6 point check etc. It was excellent advice as I was so nervous that I stalled on a roundabout on the way back to the test centre and still managed to pass as I did all my checks and made sure it was safe before I set off again.

Try to stay calm and try not to get flustered, if you make a mistake, don’t panic and make sure to rectify it safely and you will be fine. Good luck

I had 3 tests. Failed the first. Had to abandon the second due to a puncture. Passed next time (so, my 2nd attempt). One of the hardest and most nerve-wracking thing I’ve ever done. It must be over 40 years ago now but I remember it vividly.

my instructor calls mirror checks looking for “bob” and “tom” 😂

My sons instructor advised him against having her in the car. She said because of the extra weight in the car that he wasn’t used to . I couldn’t see that tbh with modern cars but he passed anyway.
