2 passports...2 different HM addresses?
Just wondered if anyone else had this recently?
Applied online yesterday for both my boys ages 5 and 10 to renew their passports. I was planning to send their old ones back to HM passports in the same envelope but I have been given 2 different addresses to return them to. 1 in liverpool and 1 in Newport. Just seemed strange and wondered if anyone knew why or if they had had before. More curious than anything.

I’m not sure about the different locations I would imagine they are randomly selected. However, I applied for a renewal passport for my daughter at the beginning of the week. I live in Newport but had to send her old passport to Glasgow!

Yes, I renewed my mum and dads passports within 15 minutes of each other online and they went to different offices. One came back within about 3 days and the other took over ten. It was all fine though.

We had the same. I think it’s randomly allocated.

Yes, did my twins at the same time and they went to different locations. Same with the woman next to me at work. Wonder if it’s some sort of security measure?

I'm guessing it's to spread out the number of applications evenly otherwise one could be overrun and another with nothing to do.

I would imagine it's just spreading the workload..renewed my son's last week and had to send his to Durham rather than the nearest one to us.
Would add that this online system is excellent and a quick turn around |

Sounds like the passport offices use a “taxi rank” system to allocate out online applications, helps ensure turnover is smooth and that applications are dealt with in date order no matter where in the country you live.

when I did ours they had to go to different places too I think even if they do go to the same place you would still have had to send them separately as each one has a code/referrence number you put in the address.
dd's had to go to ireland but surprisingly that had the quickest turnaround ds went to Peterborough? and that took ages |
