Universal Check-In
Hi everyone,
I’m brand new to the booking Orlando holidays things so I’ve got a question that may seem obvious to most but I’m not 100% sure. In September we are staying at Dockside Inn the new Universal resort and a question I have is about checking. Do you need a credit card to be able to and if so do they accept debit card? I’ve seen they’re not so popular in the states? I know an obvious answer would be get a credit card. But with not so great credit they’re hard to come by for myself. |

Hi, in the past i've always used a pre-paid visa card and haven't had any problems with that.

I would contact the hotel directly and ask about options. They might accept debit cards but you will need to make sure you have enough in the account to cover the hold plus your spending money etc, They may also accept a cash 'deposit' in place of a card.

Thank you, I have Caxton card and another, though I saw elsewhere they might no accept prepaid cards.
Just trying to make sure so I don’t go over and have any unnecessary issues. |

They will almost certainly accept a debit card, the issue is whether you are alright with the "hold" they put on when you check in. The exact amount depends on whether you have pre-paid for the stay or not, but even if you have it can run up to a good few hundred $$ (depending on the length of your stay of course) and that means the money they "hold" will be blocked from your account and you won't be able to access those funds until you have checked out - and then it usually takes a couple of days for the "hold" to be released. Bit of a palava hence why most use a credit card, although I appreciate you mentioned that isn't an option for you.
Not sure on pre-paid cards though, never tried but am sure someone else will come along and advise!
