Devon & Cornwall places to visit
Hi,
This summer we are going to Devon for 3 days staying near Newton Abbott and Cornwall for 7 days staying in Perranporth. Does anyone have recommendations of places to visit, things to do, restaurants to try please? It will be me, DH and DD who is 12. We will be driving from Essex.

Perranporth is lovely, it’s my favourite place in Cornwall, we always go for breakfast at Pickwicks, it’s on the high street. There’s also a bar on the beach, but it gets so busy during the day! There’s a nice Wetherspoons and a Chinese at the top of the high street. Healeys cyder farm is a nice place to visit too.
There's loads of places to visit depending on if you have kids young or older, pick up some leaflets while your there, there’s always loads about. The beach is lovely, but can get very busy, we walk past the bar and head towards where the rocks are as it’s much quieter the further from the bar you walk, there can be Little Rock pools to paddle in. Have fun |

Near Newton Abbot there’s Stover Country Park, or Haldon Forest if you’re into nature and walking. Exeter is a lovely city to visit, there’s the cathedral, Underground Passages, the Quay. There’s Woodlands Park which is great for kids. Totnes or Dartmouth are lovely towns to visit. There’s lovely walks at Staverton, or you could go on Dartmoor. Places to eat in Newton Abbot - the Pizza Cafe is very good. In Exeter there’s Yo Sushi, 5 Guys, or Bill’s. My favourite coffee place is Chococo in Gandy Street.

For Cornwall, I’d recommend Truro, Padstow and St Ives. You could also do some South West Coast Path walks- there’re a fantastic way of seeing things off the beaten track. As you may be able to tell, I live in Devon and have been to Cornwall lots 😁

We did a fantastic boat trip out of Padstow with Padstow Sealife Safari and my husband and son had an amazing time on some Jet skis with Cornwall waverunners. St Michael's Mount is beautiful and another vote for Healeys Cyder farm. Tintagel is great but might be a bit far from Perranporth. On a wet day we have been known to wander around Trago Mills in Liskeard. If you like cycling the route from Wadbridge to Padstow on the Camel Way is great fun and flat. Have fun I love Cornwall

Pennywell Farm! They have pigs to cuddle, pig racing, lots of other animals to see. And a few different activities. It’s great fun!

Whilst in Newton Abbot a visit to Shaldon or Dartmouth both lovely little Towns if you want the beach Goodrington or Broadsands are the best. Dartmoor is great with Widdecombe being a real Devon Village.

If you are in the area on 14/15 August ... head into Plymouth and up onto the Hoe for the British Firework Championships ... spend the day and explore the Barbican and then enjoy the amazing fireworks ...
I know I’m slightly biased but Plymouth is a lovely city and well worth a visit xx |
