Best section at SSR?

Hi all

After many adjustments to our holiday, we have finally settled for a studio at SSR. We are wondering where is the best section to request, taking into consideration the following points:

*2adults, 2 kids (4&10)
*no car
*would like to be near to good pools (with slides) arcades etc
*would like a good view

I do like the thought of a DTD view but is it quite a walk from the main building and how likely is it we will get a DTD view in January?
Any help will be gratefully received!

We are at SSR Congress Park now. It is beautiful, so peaceful and tranquil, the view over the lake to DTD is lovely. It takes us 6 minutes to walk to the springs pool, where there is a slide and arcade, think this is the quieter of the two pools, but it is lovely and there is lots going on all day, quizzes etc

I would say you'd be best in the springs section but obviously you won't have the dtd view so it depends on what is your 'driver'. Also remember that DtD is under going construction at the moment and whilst there may not be much going on there now, it may kick up a gear by Jan and you woudlnt want to be looking at a construction site, so that's also a consideration. That said you still have the water over to DtD and its unlikely they will do anything that would ruin that view too much but if you want to be in the main bit the springs would be my choice.
Thing is if you aren't going until Jan there is time for you to monitor the situation and see what you think is best. We requested springs and when we got there had a choice of Paddock or Grandstand - congress and springs were full (there is also carousel but I presume that was full too). We ended up in Paddock. Springs has the biggest pool and is the main area. Generally speaking all the views are quite good as its a very lush, water based resort. We faced a large lake with water fountains and could see the back end of DTD (cirque, house of blues, disney quest) from our bit.

OOh, I'd forgotten about the construction! Thanks for the advice...think The Springs would be our best option then. Glad all the parts are nice though! Im liking the sound of sitting out on my balcony, looking at the lake!

Does anybody have the email address to hand, by any chance? (obviously wont be requesting a section this early, although I am that keen! )

Many thanks for your replies folks

I'm pretty sure you can only phone or fax for room requests, we called about 2 weeks before.

We always book Grandstand as it is peaceful and overlooking the golf course. Everyone is different though, but it is out of the way a bit and that is what we like. It has a pool but you are really aren't far from anywhere wherever you stay.

We have attached a request for the Grandstand first, Springs second choice to our booking. Reason being you can walk from the Grandstand to Downtown Disney west side, the boats to Downtown Disney leave from the Grandstand and it is the first pick up and drop off on the buses. It also has a fabulous looking pool and is an easy walk to main areas.
