Boats, Bahamas and Boos: DCL October 2019: Day 4: Castaway, Cocktails and Contentment

Day 4: Castaway, Cocktails and Contentment
Wednesday 16th October 2019

I was overly excited this morning and had no problems getting out of bed despite our late night, to jump onto the balcony and watch the ship dock into my favourite place in the world - Castaway Cay… Eeekkk!

I cannot describe how happy I was to be back and was jumping up and down like a kid at Christmas ready to get off the ship and on to the beach!

We were however responsible adults and had some room service breakfast before sun creaming up and being amongst the first to get on to the island. The Disney Dream looked as stunning as always in the port.

It has become a tradition that we walk from the ship to the adults area in Serenity Bay. It means I get to take all of the beautiful surroundings in. It has also apparently become a tradition that when we get to the shops, we always take the wrong dead end path to the left - must remember to go right next time!

The day was absolute bliss! Although, there isn’t really much for me to write about and won’t be that interesting for you guys to read. We sunbathed, went into the transparent sea, read, had some cocktails, listened to the amazing vocalist and guitarist and just generally relaxed.

There was a funny incident where I was floating around in the giant tubes you can hire, earphones in listening to music and reading a book. The next thing I knew, a current had washed me ashore and I was stuck! Much to the giggles of myself and those around that saw me bob in, fortunately Nathan came to my rescue and pushed me back into the sea to continue relaxing.

The BBQ and ribeye that we had for lunch were delicious. Nathan went back up for seconds, as well as a burger. To stop indigestion we walked to the end of the adults beach afterwards, before settling back down for more blissful relaxation.

We waited as long as we possibly could before we had to head back to the ship. I did try to convince Nathan to hide somewhere, so that we didn’t have to leave, but he was convinced we’d get caught - boo!

When we got back to the room we found some Pixie Dust in our cabin. Some sparkling cider, rice crispy treats and popcorn. When we saw our cabin attendant that morning and he asked if everything was ok, we happened to mention that one of the sinks smelt a little funny and thought nothing more of it. He was so lovely and not only got this sorted, but sorted out this little gift as an apology. There was no need at all, as it was something we wouldn’t have even mentioned if he hadn’t of seen us that morning, but is was very much appreciated.

After we had showered off all of the suncream, saltwater and sand, we chilled on the verandah and watched the ship leave Castaway Cay.

We had another lovely meal again with our table mates, still no photos as we were just enjoying chatting and joking too much. We went to a music quiz afterwards, where our table won - yay!

We came back to find a squid on our bed!

I hope you are enjoying following along,

Oh, I hope you get to go too. it really is paradise!

I don't think we've had a towel animal at a Disney resort either. I do remember getting them when I travelled with my family as a child, I wonder why they don't do them anymore? They are so cute to find when you get back to your room.
