Hi, we have decided to look at adding Shanghai onto our trip next year !
Looking at some reports it seems best to do Shanghai first and then Tokyo ?
Therefore our plans are now -
Fly to Shanghai - Disney hotel for a few nights using the 144 hour visa (I think this is what is is called)
Shanghai to Tokyo
Stay in the Bay Area
Then train to Oska - for Universal and Kyoto
Train back to Tokyo - staying in the city
Fly home !
Not sure if this is crazy or not ? LOL x

Yep, I was in Shanghai for two weeks working - I only had one weekend spare to myself - I spent one day in the touristy bit of town and one in Disneyland resort - it's totally do-able in one day - as it's essentially just magic kingdom 2.0 - and if you have the budget you can buy fast passes so avoid the queues. I went on a bank holiday weekend and did everything in one day (Pirates and Tron twice) except the 'go ape' explorers thing - as that didn't have a fast pass option. I was there from ropedrop to close too!

The food is great - the classic rides are all new or reimagined. It's a great park.
Note - it's probably the same price, if not more expensive than US parks. Shanghai is expensive all around. Though hotels aren't in the London/NYC range.

They are building a new zootopia land, but I think that's 2023 opening.

According to this quite recent article, they hope to open it later this year, but given that in the photo shown, the show building has no sides on it yet in many places, I struggle to see that happening!
