FOMO or just desperate to escape the rest of the family ?

Excellent news for staff , I’m sure the customers will survive …..and of course for many employees it is the difference between going “home” for Christmas or not .

Great news.

I also hope other supermarkets and stores too follow suit.

I have a neighbour who works for a big high street chain of stores. For many years she’s had to start at stupid o’clock on Boxing Day because of their sales. So couldn’t really enjoy Christmas Day either.

Sorry, I'm struggling to parse that sentence. Christmas was before February?

Do you mean you've been working on preparation for this Christmas since Feb?

You'll have to triple up Christmas Eve and use restraint to see you through.

Planning for this coming Christmas since Feb. I work for a high street retailer.

Just a quick question though. We're down to our last 586 toilet rolls - can I drop by and collect a few more before Christmas?

Mick
Only 586 ? ! think you may need a few more. I would be concerned you may have to limit it to a few squares a day just incase !
There will be a shortage of oyster bay, chunky Kit Kats and loo roll , not the tons of xmas pudding that we normally have left ..

Do you need to use your annual leave for this ? Or is it a complete freebie ?

Boxing day is a Sunday this year. Great PR for little loss.

Two Bank Holidays on the Mon and Tue will more than make up for it.

Sorry for being cynical.

My son’s fiancée messaged this morning to tell me as she works for Morrisons. They visit us every Christmas (apart from last year of course) but DH has to drive them back 40 miles the same evening so she can go to work the next day.

This year she will be able to spend more time with her mum and family and us (as we live around 8 miles from her mum) and it won’t be such a rush for us all. It’s brilliant news. I’ve never been shopping on Boxing Day, I buy so much before the holiday that I barely go near a store until after the new year so I really hope all stores follow Morrisons and give their staff an extra day with their families

Hurrah for common sense. Now hopefully other big names will follow. If the last 18 months have taught us anything, nothing is more precious than family time
