School boys in...
I woke up yesterday morning and it was snowing here in Cambridge (didn't settle ) but as i was driving past our village school i saw a few mums taking their children in SHORTS !
Ami the only one thinking that shorts are not really appropriate in this weather ? Bless them they were only 5/6 years old.. |

I wouldn't do it nowadays.
However when I was growing up in the 1950's and 60's not one Boy that I knew had long trousers of any description until you were 11 and went to High School We must have been a tough breed.

My daughter only ever wears shorts for school, I have persuaded her in January to wear tights under them which is a first. (she is 9)

Yes and girls wore skirts and long socks. Even when I went to grammar school boys wore shorts until third year unless they were very tall! Girls were not allowed stockings/ tights until 3rd year (year 9 as it's called now). Mind you we didn't have central heating or double glazing so the contrast in temperature was less. 🙄

It is the uniform for the prep school at my boys school until they are 10.. they have long socks so only their knees are showing really .. they don't care, trying to get my older ones to wear a jumper in this weather is another matter :-)
