Mmm. Sounds nice.

I suppose they are treated as a snack? The issue I have is I was never allowed snacks growing up in the 50's and 60's and even now wouldn't dream of eating outside of traditional meal times. I did allow our children obviously but still am unable to do it myself. Ok, I'm weird

Proper churros are the staple midmorning snack in every Spanish household on a Sunday morning. They do not usually have any cinnamon etc, but like most foods possibly regional or touristy they are a longish deep-fried dough, like a doughnut but not quite. Traditionally we dip them in coffee or very thick hot chocolate. Every village has a churreria and if they do not a mobile one will come to the village on a Sunday. The women can be seen clutching churros wrapped in paper taking them home after Mass.

They can be yummy but are very fattening

bit of history

Churros are traditional Spanish desserts developed centuries ago by Spanish shepherds This was the birth of Churros · Originally churros were about the size of a breadstick

My son bought one and made gluten free churros (gfjules/recipes/gluten-free-churros-recipe/) and said they were lovely. DH managed to find one on his travels as our local store and online was sold out so will be a Christmas present for me to make him them as he always misses out in Florida as he has to have g/free too.
