Ice Breaker coaster at Seaworld

Seaworld Orlando have released some more information about their new coaster in special presentation today. The new record-breaking multi-launch roller coaster will be called Ice Breaker, and will open in Spring 2020.

The Arctic-inspired attraction is being built near Wild Arctic and will incorporate four launches (two backwards and two forwards) including a reverse launch into a 93-foot tall spike with 100-degree angle - the steepest beyond-vertical drop in Florida.

"Spring" is all we know at the moment. I suppose that could be anytime from March to June. I doubt we'll know anything more definite for at least the next 4 or 5 months.

So Disney announce a Backward launch coster and now SeaWorld do the same! could be interesting!

I truly miss seaworld Did it on my First and second trip but the last 2 have been on-site and struggled to justify the cost hopefully if they continue to expand at this rate then it may become a bigger destination and easier to justify.

I think construction work started on Mako in May 2015 and that was completed by June 2016. So, 13 months in total.

Construction work on Ice Breaker started in June (I think) which does imply it will open in July, assuming it takes the same length of time as Mako.

Spring 2020 does seem a bit optimistic. If it does happen in Spring I expect it will be at the very end of Spring - that is, early June. But it still seems a bit of a stretch.

Anyway, that's what Seaworld announced so it's the 'best' information we have.
