QSDP. Where to tip?

I know that at most of the eateries that accept QSDP you don't, nor are you expected to, tip.

I also know that Polite Pig ask for a tip when you order rather than having actually received the service you are supposed to be tipping for. We would also expect to leave a tip at WP Express.

Where else would a tip be appropriate/expected when using QSDP?

Thanks

Nowhere else for us. I only tip at WPE if we have a good server, not just because a server has brought our food out to us. We've had some lovely attentive ones who have refilled drinks and generally looked after us, and we tip them.

I think the PP tipping when you order is outrageous personally and not something I will be doing.

We don't tip at any other QS places.

E ate at Wolfgang puck express yesterday, and have eaten there many times before. I didn’t like the way the server emphasised the tipping aspect. She introduced herself and explained that it was a quick dining experience that was different to others, a tip is expected as a server brings your food to the table 😬 that’s all she did, we didn’t see her for the rest of the meal. Bit cheeky I think.

Why don't they just reclassify WPE as a table service then, I wonder? The waiters would just have to take the order.

And why is Polite Pig asking for a tip? Planning to go for the first time on next trip. Do they also bring food to your table?

A lot of credit card machines in the US include a line for a tip, even when one is not expected. I am usually a "tipper" but yesterday, I went to pick up a piece of coffeee cake at a local bakery which is attached to a restaurant. The receipt had a tip line, I ignored it. I assume the restaurant has one register program. It does not expect tips for the person you pay when you get a coffee (self serve. I've seen it other places, too.

If you don't think you are in a tipping type place, don't tip.

It’s the fact that at both places they actually ask for a tip 😬

We did tip at WPE because the waiter was attentive and I am sure refilled our drinks for us.

Just before we left they were shift changing and we wanted the tip to go to the correct person so we located him and put it directly into his hand. He was really lovely.

I feel it is a bit different at WPE because of them bringing the food to the table, real plates and they clear the table. But it does also depend on the service too. I was annoyed I was expected to tip at Chef Mickey's for the buffet breakfast!

I wouldn't tip anywhere else on QSDP.

We had the same service! I think she basically said “here’s your cutlery, the tip wasn’t included in your payment” then some other people brought our food, I had to go get our drinks myself and we had to get her attention to ask for the dessert that we’d also ordered. I did leave a tip as it was expected but not earned.

They can eff right off for that. I was amazed to be asked when ordering at Polite Pig for a tip (before service! ) so said no. All that person did was to carry food from the kitchen to me. No, that is not worth a tip!
