I put in my two boys (14 and 11) new pjs, bath bomb, hot chocolate, Christmas mug, cookies for Santa, reindeer dust, a hot wheat bag neck warmer, chocolate treats and a personalised letter from Santa.
Youngest still believed last year. Eldest played along.

I don’t know where it originated from but it’s usually a box or crate that contains things like hot chocolate ,snacks Christmas mug book etc
I’m not sure whether it’s meant to calm kids down or wind them up - I do a shared one for us as DS is older but do new PJs ,hot chocolate etc AND reindeer dust
As DS still sprinkles it / but now as jokey tradition ( and only if no - one is walking past the house )

Guys just did a google search, probably originated Germany or Eastern European countries who give presents on Christmas Eve rather than Christmas Day .
