If I'm going for a chain, typically Starbucks. In my area at least, they tend to be the most consistent with their staff training. The others are very hit and miss depending which barista you get.

But my favourite coffee is from an independent.

Nero because they put an extra espresso shot in as standard although I struggle with them not paying taxes in the UK.
Costa is ok but don’t get me started on Starbucks - they don’t really make coffee, they make sugary, milky preparations

I rarely buy coffee though as I have a Gaggia bean to cup machine at home and enjoy that more.

I always go independent. In Newcastle we have hundreds of independent cafes and coffee roasters. Newcastle, Northumberland and across to the Lake District all have little coffee roasters so we are spoilt for choice.

Interesting how many go for independents and also that costa despite having the most shops don’t appear at the moment to be the most popular
