One of my boys got the dreaded isolation phone calls yesterday due to a boy in his class testing positive for Covid. Another of my boys has several class mates isolating, and 3 of the mums of his group of friends have Covid. I am worried about booking to take the whole family (8 of us) for Christmas as it’s possible that someone in our house might have to isolate, making it impossible to go. We will see though.
It's awful that as well as tests and everything else, we really do have to factor these things in. I am slightly disappointed Abu Dhabi is a long way off from welcoming people in though, but will certainly have a look at Dubai I hope you manage to get out as planned

Wonderful news as I could see how much you wanted to get out there from previous posts

So can you fly to Dubai airport but travel to and stay in Abu Dhabi? Just out of curiosity

My brother and his family live in AD and he was saying the other day about having to wear a wristband for 14 days. I wasn’t sure what they meant so just had a quick check and found this

That makes Abu Dhabi a no-go for most people then, due to the 14 day isolation on arrival

He said yesterday he thinks they are working towards reducing it as he is hoping he can come back in the first part of 21, however not sure if it’s for everyone or residents. I guess we just have to keep watching.

Thinking of doing 5 nights in January, if we opt for the test on arrival does anyone know how long the results take?

Most likely 48hrs but they won’t guarantee it and you have to stay in your hotel room while you wait. Due to the amount of asymptomatic cases I would never risk having the test there. I also wouldn’t want to be sat in my hotel room for 2-3 days when I can have the test before I go and relax. It also means that you can move your flights/hotel if you unexpectedly receive a positive result.
