We visited the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum, Doncaster last week.
Excellent value at £6.50 and is a really interesting volunteer led museum. Well worth a visit for a couple of hours. Stayed at The Earl of Doncaster, an Art Deco independent hotel. Stunning building and lovely staff, had afternoon tea in the dining room. Great value hotel, in a more upmarket town this place would be ££££ |

I’m looking for somewhere too. We live in the Lakes so want to get away from there. I like cities/lots to do but don’t want to go far. We like doing museums, open too buses, touristy things etc and I keep thinking of places to go but then when I look for things to actually do then I hit w brick wall. We did York recently and did ghost tours etc and that was fun

I’ve ended up booking an apartment in Scarborough. Cashed in £31.50 of clubcard vouchers, to get £94.50, and booked a 3 bed apartment for £295, costing me £200.50

Get yourself to Bonnets on Huntriss Row for coffee and cake, or breakfast, or lunch, but definitely coffee and cake at least once. They have a little courtyard to sit out in - I love it there.

Only been once, took my son to see the Terracotta Army display and the next day did the hop on/off bus and ferry ride. We were lucky with the weather and would love to go back. We went up from the midlands by train which was a bit of a faff, thought it would be quite direct but it wasn’t and we travelled on a bank holiday and didn’t find out that engineering works were going on and had a major inconvenience to our planned journey. Only trouble with driving up is messing about in a city with car parking.
