The Restaurant ‘The Cove’ is excellent.
The Beach is pretty, sheltered and safe, with a shipwreck as you look to sea on the left, just around the corner. Mawnan Smith has the Red Lion, where you may see Roger Taylor of Queen on a Sunday. The Trengwillywartha, a little further away, hosts Tim Rice every now and then. The walk from Maenporth on the coast path to Swanpool is really good with stunning views. The Walk from Mawnan Church to the Ferry Boat in is also pretty good. All in all a pretty good location, albeit a drive to Falmouth Town.. about 3.5 miles. Give me a shout nearer to the time. I can give you plenty of info and detail, depending on what you are seeking, trips, food, walks, anything you want to ask about. I have had 32 years practice!

We are planning on going to Falmouth tomorrow. No hard and fast plans as the weather looks a bit dire but where the best place to park for a walk along the seafront and a mooch around the shops? TIA

I would park at the Dell carpark. This is about 200m from the Sea and around 400m from Trago Mills(which is effectively the end of town).
Before doing this, I would have a drive up round Castle drive, stopping at the Dock where there are great views from above through the railings and then at Pendennis Point. I would then carry on around, looking at Castle, Gyllingvase and Swanpool beaches. If the weather is lousy, then I recommend Gylly Beach Cafe. As a stop. If you like walking, then I would consider all of the above. (My wife walks it with her friend). Fish and Chips is best at the Harbour lights which is very close to Trago Mills. A great Pasty can be found down an alley on Market Street towards seaward side. When you look down the alley, you will see a large Ships figurehead facing you. If you are bored in the afternoon, then say so on the DIBB . As mentioned before, I will pop down and meet you. I am on nights tonight, but will be up by 1100.

P.s. I and my wife have both had Covid. I have antibodies.
PPS That Pasty Shop is next door to a restaurant called the Wheelhouse. Most know where that is.

Sorry about the poor weather today. If open, I would suggest the Maritime Museum and if lousy tomorrow, the Eden project.
