Mexico

Guys... I have read and googled and so on but I just need someone to tell me I am reading right...

We don't need Visas or estás to fly straight from Scotland to cancun, mexico?

We do need to fill out immigration forms though? On the plane or can they be done online?

We were there twice last year & head off again soon.

immigration form was done away with between June and September last year when we visited. At immigration, they now just stamp your passport, no form required.

You get a customs form on the plane to fill out (they have spares before immigration too if you need to do it again) After immigration, you collect your cases, head to the X-rays machine and put through all suitcases/bags & hand over customs forms.

You’ll be asked to press a red or green button for your party. If you press red, you get a spot check done of your cases.

There is now a departure tax that you pay before going there (will be in your email from TUai, etc). We were not asked both times last year to show evidence of paying. It’s a new thing.

Hope this helps & we fly direct GLA to CAN too with tui

Ps they used to give you 2 forms on the plane, customs & immigration (where you are staying etc for your whole party).

Sample of customs questions. mexicotouristcard/customs.html

Thanks fluff! So much!

We are heading out on June 24th... just for a week... hubby just booked it! I am petrified and excited at such short notice!

Can you tell me how much the tax was please?

I’ve not done mine yet. This is the link & it’s called a tourist tax rather than departure tax. My email from TUI says around £8 per person.

You may also need to pay an environmental tax at the hotel, depending on the area you stay in. We go to Riviera Maya & have to pay it. Not sure if Cancun is the same.

If you have any other questions, just ask 😀

We did a late booking to mexico last year too, only had 3 weeks to get organised but it was fine.

Make sure you take mosquito repellant. Our combo again this year is:

-Anti-histamines daily 7 days before leaving & whilst there.
-have started Vitamin B daily
-pyramid trek 50 deet (small amount over skin so soft)
-Avon skin so soft on exposed skin
-Vicks vapour rub on wrists, ankles etc.
-pyramid deet bracelets.
-no perfume or aftershave (heard this can attract them)

May seem like overkill but 1st time we went we got badly bitten. We saw a lot of people with bites last year but we didn’t have many.

Thanks you on the mosquito advice. They love me. I already have some repellant so hopefully that will help.

We went last august and my friend went this feb and both of our GP’s recommended vaccinations. One was MMR if you were too old to have had the double jab which we are, I think my sister aged 40 was one of the first so any younger than that have most likely had it already! They also said tetanus, hepatitis and one more….am thinking typhoid? The MMR was done in 2 doses a month apart. It’s strange though as others have been told they don’t need any.
As above we just paid the tourist tax than nobody asked about and filled in the customs card.

Excellent, thank you.

We went to Morocco in February and had the hepatitis and tetanus and typhoid before going. So on that front ... we are all good
