Anyone own a lexus hybrid?
Hi
I am thinking about getting one of these to replace my existing company car. I do a lot of motorway miles each year and whilst I am not naive enough to think I will get the manufacturers stated guideline, I wondered how far out they are, particularly when doing motorway miles. Any particular pros or cons I should be aware of as its my first hybrid? I am considering either the IS or the NX.

I had a Lexus GS 450h a few years ago. It was rapid, probably a bit too quick from 0-60.
The Lexus hybrids are ok, the IS or NX that you are thinking about are hybrids for efficiency rather than for power like the GS that I had. You need to test drive them as they will have a CVT gearbox which is quite different to a regular automatic gearbox. Lexus overall though cannot be faulted, I’ve owned 2, both very reliable, great quality. |

I have had an IS300 for about a year now. I do very little motorway mileage so can't comment on that, but on a few long journeys that I have done I've gotten around 50mpg when driving quickly but relaxed.
They are not really a sporting drive but as a way of wafting around in a luxurious and very quiet manner there is nothing this side of a very large figure that can touch them. The technology of the hybrid is superb, the switch from electric to petrol is smooth and almost unnoticeable. Build quality and reliability is first class. There's really very little cons to them. Some, as pp did, mention the CVT gearbox, I'm happy with it and don't find it that significantly different. Only 1 problem I have, DW wants an RX now to replace her XC90

I have a Lexus CT2000H it is really beautiful, I love it. It is now 4 years old, I have never kept a car so long but it is a dream to drive and has many extras. The battery takes over when you are driving at speeds c40 mph and below, which my son and DH will tell you I don't achieve very often so I probably don't get the best mpg but compared with my previous car which was a Mercedes C-Class diesel which used to take £70-80 a week and was top $$ road fund licence, this Lexus costs me about £40 a month in petrol and zero road fund licence.

We have a Lexus LC hybrid fantastic car, can’t fault a single thing on it
I don’t drive but hubby says the transition between engine and hybrid is seamless, we get around 35mph but he doesn’t really try to get better haha

Thanks everyone.
I am not looking for a particularly rapid car, but it does need a bit of oomph and a lot of comfort. I spend approximately 4 hours a day in the car and travel approx 1000 miles a week. I wonder whether (because the majority of my drive is motorway) the hybrid will actually work for me. I would only spend about 20 miles a day doing less than 50mph so most of it would be using the petrol on a motorway. I will have to think some more! Thanks to all that replied.

Comfort is not going to be an issue and there is oomph if you need it. Even on a motorway the electric motors help the petrol, recharging every time you slow down, it really is an amazing piece of kit.
I had found this when I was looking last year, might be worth a read motoringresearch/car...g-term-review/

That's a really interesting read- thank you. This could actually be a serious contender.

I have sent a request through their website for a test drive. I hope they won't mind when they won't get the sale out of me directly!
