Mobile Feeling helpless...

Late evening phone call from mum asking me to quickly go over.
Keeping in mind we’ve distanced over these past 6 weeks..
Arrived to find dad in a confused state, standing there and not responding, much like a waking sleep...
He knew who I was and would put his left arm around me.
It appeared that his right side was weak but he had no face droop
Had no option but to ring 999.
The paramedic and following ambulance crew were fantastic.
The worst thing was my dad knew everything that was going on and was terrified of going into hospital because of the current situation.
I don’t think I’ve felt worse in my life having to watch him go in that ambulance and know that we couldn’t follow and stay with him.
Can’t fault the hospital either... they took him at 11pm and by 12 my mum had a phone call advising her that he’d had a bleed on the brain... they’re now referring him for further tests/supervision.
Life can be so unpredictable... after everything he’s been through over the last 15 years ( prostrate& bladder cancer, hernia, heart attack, pacemaker, perforated gall bladder mrsa and cdiff and he was still walking the dog and fixing cars at 83) you’d think he could be spared this...
And the worst part ... we can’t go to him ... all because of this virus ... it’s so cruel ...

Oh goodness what a frightening thing for you to witness. You definitely did the right thing in providing your mum with support.
I am sure your dad is being well cared for.

Absolutely awful thing for you but I definitely think you did the right thing too. I think going to a hospital seems terrifying for everyone at the moment but really hoping your dad is back on the road to a full recovery & home again soon, he sounds super active at 83..lovely xx

Oh goodness. How terrifying. But yes, he's in the best place. He sounds like a wonderful man, who's a true fighter. Really hope he's getting all the treatment he needs and that the staff can keep you as updated as they can. I can only imagine how helpless you feel. Damn this bloody virus x x x

How frightening for you all. He is definitely in the best place and good that they have diagnosed it so quickly. Big hugs to you all. As you say though just makes it so much harder that you can’t be with them x
