Cheers everyone!
Dh and the kids have decided they wanted to stay at HRH - but I've changed our booking to club level 😄 But not told the rest of them! I was paying £588 for 2 nights through Travel Republic, for a standard room, but booked a club level room for £720 through Virgin Holidays. Not sure how good a deal this is but £132 for 3 days worth of club room access and the option to use the V Hub at Aventura wasn't too bad I don't think! Plus, I got £21 cashback through quidco! Prefer RPR to Hard Rock but I didn't feel that HR was necessarily noisy/busier
Preferred the style of RPR, also like that it is closer to IOA as that is our favourite park. If you haven't been to Hard Rock I would stay with that one. Both great hotels |

I’ve just had a look at Virgin for Club at Portofino for our dates and it’s coming in at £100 cheaper than Travelrepublic under a ‘length of stay promotion’ offer. Does anyone know how long this promotion might be on for? Just wondering whether top pro grab it now or if it can afford to wait a few days.

No idea! I have been looking for weeks for a better deal, I didn't even think to book hotel only with virgin and the prices are so much better than everywhere else I've seen. I'd say if you can book it now, and it's at a price you're happy with, go for it!

Hmmm. Sadly, it’s going to costs us £30 to cancel with Travelrepublic -£40 all together with the £10 deposit we’ve already paid Eats into the headline savings a bit so not sure if it’s worth it, especially considering that we will have to pay for most of it up front with Virgin rather than the low deposit which gives us a bit more wriggle room. I think I might mull it over a bit more before deciding. Thanks anyway!

It might not be a Virgin time-limited promotion.
It always used to be cheaper, booking a Universal hotel direct with Universal/Loewes, to stay for 4 nights or more. I don't know if that's still the case, but it might just be that. Virgin Holidays must have their own stock of Universal rooms. Last year we booked RPR with them directly, only a few days in advance, as there was no availability anywhere else, including with Universal themselves. |
