Air-conditioned minutes. It's not all bad!

I heard Disney doing a Universal and plan on opening a major new E ticket ride or new area each year.
With Avitar this year, toy story area and the replacement of GMR next year and Star Wars the following year.
GOTG in 2020 and Tron coaster 2021. Then all the planned changes for Epcot finished in 2022 for the parks 40th birthday.

I agree that Disney are now feeling the pain of standing still for far too long and relying on the nostalgia of years gone by. The GMR was great, but I think older people forget that even people in their 20`s wont have seen the first 4 Alien films. 1979 / 1986 / 1992 with resurrection in 1997. Now if you are like me I think 1997 was a few years ago but its not! Its just out of touch and did need replacing , and yes Really looking forward to the new one.

Indiana Jones is another example! 1981/1984/1989 with a later 2008 one but the show is based on Temple of doom which is 32 years old!

The Problem is HS is now a 4 ride park, they are still charging full price for what it a pretty poor show really. When you compare it to what other parks have on offer it really is in a sad state. 1/2 day park currently.

Just because the films were made before they were born doesn't mean most of these people won't have seen them and enjoyed them.

The Wizard of Oz was released in 1939 but that doesn't mean only people older than 78 years old have seen it.

These films were "timeless" and/or notable works in their genre and GMR was providing us a lesson in the history of movies using these examples in an entertaining, audio-animatronic manner. I wouldn't want the parks to only showcase films from the last 20 years.

Agree with this.
I'm in my 20's and have seen all the Alien films and have a framed poster from the first one on our hall wall at home! It's the great movie ride not 'films from the last few years ride'

Though I'm contradicting myself slightly as I've said before I think it needs updating but I meant more the actual set/figures. Ripley always makes us laugh when we go through the alien section at how bad her model is!

Our countdowns are getting so small. Hoping that it doesn't close until evening of 13th to give me a chance to ride GMR as not been on it.

It would have been better if they had changed the story lines for the Gangster and the cowboy over the years. Also added new scenes over the years.
I reckon for the parks 30 they will announce a new name for the park. I reckon it will also have a new entrance area.

I doubt they will do anything with the front of the Chinese theatre as the new theme will be based inside a mickey movie and they will still have to show the starwars nighttime show on the building.
