Mobile Saving $ by upgrading to Disney annual pass whilst there?

Having just read on another post that the Disney annual pass includes free parking, I am now wondering if it is worth the upgrade? We have already secured 21day tickets with ATD so my question is - can I upgrade at the parks (guest services?) on my first day and how much will it be? We will probably be doing about 15 days in Disney so will cost me $300 in parking. Is it worth the upgrade?

That’s a bit of a’how long is a piece of string ‘ question. Firstly you will get a different price from different places. Secondly do you think you will go back within 12 months? The best plan of action is to work out what the dollar cost of your ticket is . Look at the cost of the annual pass on Disney USA site - do a dummy transaction so the tax gets added on -then see what the difference is. Then you can make an informed decision. But if you don’t like the first price you’re given try somewhere else. They never seem to know what value to put on the UK tickets so it’s a bit of a lottery.
Edited to add... if you’re only thinking about the parking you would only need to get one annual pass for that.

I upgraded to an annual pass (from a magic your way ticket though not the UK ultimate ticket), and think I've made up for the cost of the annual pass with room discount, memory maker and shopping/dining discounts. This is in one trip!

You have to work out for yourself if you'd save money personally though as everyone will be different!

I'm very interested in this too. Going in 2018 and will have 21 day ticket. Staying on site for first 7 days so will have free parking but just wondering if it would be worthwhile upgrading one ticket to AP to avail of the benefits?

Currently, the Platinum Pass (just the 4 main parks, no waterparks) costs $829 and the Platinum Plus Pass (all parks) costs $925. The prices of these are likely to go up in February. The discussion below is based on the current prices.

The 21 day Ultimate pass for 2018 costs £439 on Disney's UK website. That's roughly equal to $570.

Therefore I'd expect the price to upgrade to the Platinum pass will be around $259 or around $355 for the Platinum Plus pass. If you use the 21-day Ultimate ticket to go to a waterpark or play mini-golf then you'll have to upgrade to the Platinum Plus pass.

Based on this, upgrading to the Platinum pass will be worth it because you'll save around $40 plus you can get 10% off merchandise. Upgrading to the Platinum Plus pass is a little more debatable - it depends on whether you'll get good use out of the 10% discount. If you're visiting after February then the price to upgrade will probably be more.

If you are visiting Florida twice in one year then, yes, it will certainly be worth upgrading to either type of pass. The price to upgrade is less than the price of a second ticket.

You may not get the value YOU paid for the Ultimate, you may get the value that ATD paid Disney.

As has been suggested, work out how much you are prepared to pay tu upgrade, thendecide when they tell you how much it will cost. If you don't think the price is viable, try again elsewhere.

If you upgrade, make sure they transfer all your fastpass selections.

That's a good point.

My earlier post used the "official" price for the 21 day ticket on Disney's website. That may not be the actual value used by the CMs to calculate the upgrade price. So the upgrade price you are quoted could be more than my calculations suggest.

And it seems to vary based on which CM you ask. It's worth trying at a few different places to see if you get a better deal.

Someone once claimed that they had been given the value of 21 day tickets for their 21 day Ultimate!

Wow! The cheapest day ticket costs $105. So 21x105 = $2205.

Based on this, one 21-day ticket alone would cost more than two Platinum Plus passes with change to spare. If this were true then Disney would have given them back over $1200 per ticket for the "hassle" of upgrading. Result!

Ha ha😃

However you can’t buy “a 21 day ticket” from the USA. The longest ticket they do is 10 days. Hence the reason they seem to have trouble giving a value on our 14 and 21 day ultimates.
