Am i doing the right thing just doing disney?
Hi everyone
We are preparing for our first WDW holiday as a family of 5 including 3 children age 2,5 and 8. I LOVE harry potter and the plan initially was for me and OH to go to universal for the day and leave the 2 youngest kids with our accompanying in laws. However i was outstanded by the cost of a one day ticket for the 3 of us and then read we would have to try to cram both US and IOA into one day in order to get all the HP stuff done so went off the idea. I am thinking this time as we have DDP etc it maybe better to spend 2 weeks doing WDW really well and maybe look at doing a split stay next time if we can ever afford to go back! Just woundered what other peoples thoughts on this are as keep doubting whether iv done the right 😕 |

You will go back. So do it then. There is no need to try and fit it all in. Once in a lifetime holidays always turn into twice, three, four

Excited about Disney

You'll obviously get lots of opinions on this but personally, when we went two years ago we planned a mostly Disney holiday with two days at Universal...we loved it so much we binned most of our Disney days the 2nd week and went back again to universal, we all love HP and could have spent time just wandering around those areas. It's your opinion, if you and your kids live HP though it would be a shame to go all that way and miss our.
That said, our last trip was supposed to be our 'once in a lifetime trip' but we're going back...so there is always next time xxx

We've ditched universal this trip because of the cost but it still get the niggle , so I know how you feel. I just can't justify the extra for 2 days . I just keep reminding myself about the extra £1000 I would have spent by doing universal.

With the ages of your children and the cost of tickets now id say just disney would more than keep you occupied for your first visit. There will be a next time

Yes I would say save your money there is so much to see and do at Disney, you will easily fill 2 weeks and your children are quite small so you may not get the benefit out of Universal as the rides are height restricted in some cases. I would stick with Disney 😁

With children your age, only doing Disney, you will still leave with bits you didn't get to do. Our first trip we visited magic 4 times, ak twice, Epcot 3 times and HS twice, that left 3 days for water parks and shopping

We went 2 years ago for our once in a lifetime trip and did just Disney. I was so overwhelmed with all the planning we decided to focus on Disney only, and have absolutely no regrets. We had an amazing time and really felt we did everything there was to do at Disney and still at an enjoyable pace. It is amazing. That said, we are going again for our 'once in a lifetime trip' this year! This time incorporating some time at Universal. Think of it as an excuse to return, and I'm sure you'll want to return! 😀

As others have said... you won't go just once. Disney when you children are small, Universal when older.
