OK. I have checked their T & C's. Very bad I must say. However you are covered under Major Change:-
includes the following when made before departure: a. A change of resort area for the whole or a major part of your holiday, b. A change of accommodation to that of a lower official classification for the whole or a major part of your holiday, c. A change of UK departure airport (excluding change of London Airports), d. A change of outward departure time or overall length of your holiday of twelve or more hours. Now this is where it is very poor. This applies to you. Period before departure when a major change is notified More than 84 days £0 compensation. We will not pay you compensation where we make a Major Change or cancel more than 12 weeks before departure or in the event of Force Majeure.

Tom - do you suggest we cancel and try and get our deposit back?

I would quote the terms and conditions back to them that Tom has highlighted for you and say to them that they either correct their mistake and give you what you booked, or an actual upgrade that you are happy with, or you want them to cancel your booking and refund your deposit in full.

Mmm. AK is nice. However it's not for me sorry. I just dont like it but thats a personal view and others adore it.
Now WL is awesome in my view. But again others will disagree. I would be onto them tomorrow and demanding an upgrade at WL for the better type room that is available. If they can't do it tell them you want a refund. However I'm the type of person who will cut his nose off to spite his face! I dont envy you this problem and VH have been dreadful. But if you use that Facebook or Twitter type thing it's probably best to blast them on that first as they detest bad publicity. Be calm, stay polite but be very firm and highlight their shortcomings. They dont like that type of thing and I bet they do something for you. Best of luck

I am with Tom on the WL vs AKL comparison.
WL is streets ahead and there is so much less pressure on the Hotel services compared to AKL who have a massively greater footfall. Disney332

I would do this. If you cancel and rebook you won't get a standard at WL anyway and if you stand your ground you may get an upgraded room for the same price. I would emphasise that you could have booked direct with Disney and had a standard room.

At the time of booking it was £200, which we thought for it all being booking and not spending forever researching flights, we would just pay so it's all done and no hassle.
What a joke that turned out to be. Going to try and stay calm until I get a response to my email (as long as I get on tomorrow.. which I reckon is unlikely!)

Was it a dvc villa room, that you only get confirmation 11 months out or a normal hotel room? Hope you get it sorted?
