Has hurricane Irma put you off?

We were looking at booking for orlando mid-late August 2018. After hurricane Irma this has put serious doubts in our minds. Has this given any of you guys second thoughts about visiting at this time of year?

Not at all always go around this time, end Sep/ start Oct, and this is first time this has been an issue and with global warming who knows what's coming I would no more change my fav time of vacation than I would stop crossing the road in rush hour in case I get hit with a car, great believer in fate deciding when my time is up etc and unlike the U.K. USA are super organised in terms of getting infrastructure up and running again etc. It comes down to personal feelings in the end really doesn't it

In a word No. But I did prefer the weather in October on our last trip to Aug/Sept. Still hurricane season technically but nearer the end of it. It was less humid and rainy

Unfortunately for us Brits Aug/Sep is never a great time to go regardless of Hurricane threats!..It is always unbearably hot with huge downpours!..You can be lucky ,but this is standard weather! Its difficult for us with schools here as Aug /Sep is sometimes only option if you want a decent length of stay. For me personally i would rather have a shorter stay (even a week) or preferably 10 nights and choose April/Oct

Not at all... its a risk we all take going this time of year. They are well able to deal with it. If you were unfortunate enough to find yourself during something like Irma you just do what your told. Can't wait to get back!

Yes, it has put me off. we were planning a trip for late August through to September 2019 after always having gone April/May early June. It is not the hurricane itself in Orlando that worries me... it is the disruption with flights etc that worry me.We work in a business where requesting time off is always tricky so any disruption will be an issue. Sure, things can also happen in May or June ... but August IS hurricane season so I feel there is some sort of warning in there... I live in London and we have had a lot of terrorist attacks... it does NOT stop me from going into town every day which is where I work, but this is because i have NO choice... I have to go to work. But this is a holiday... there is some choice there... I understand lots of people have school to think of too as do we ... but like another poster said, I think I'd rather go less long and fit it in than
be caught up in that. Just personal preference and definitely no criticism on anyone else going at that time of year.

Nope. Always go in august , it's just the risk you take and as long as you follow the advice you'll be fine

No. Got our honeymoon 5th September next year. If anything it has got me more prepared for one. Reading everyone's advice on here and how prepared Floridians are for these things makes me just think if we are caught up in one, we would have a better idea on how to handle things. It hasn't made be reconsider the dates and we will just go as planned and hope for the best
