Virgin flights time changed

Airlines have to fit in with Air Traffic Control and the availability of slots through all the areas being flown. They have to fit in with availability of facilities at both airports, and any development work taking place there. This means coordinating with other flights requiring the same facilities. Then they have to coordinate with their own flights to ensure everything is in the right place at the right time. Virgin has had more problems this year due to the engine problems with their 787s, involving lots of rejigging of their plans. If certain flights are not selling well, so are uneconomic to operate, then they might merge/cancel flights. On the day, there can be delays due to weather, technical issues, strikes etc. It is complex.
The earlier you book, the more likely it is that something will change before you go - you need to bear that in mind.

Those of us who haven't flown for about 20 years wouldn't necessarily be aware of all this though. Also a lot of people on here are first timers so also wouldn't necessarily be aware of it all.

Got 2 emails this morning saying 25 minutes earlier on 1st October 10:05 now

Our outbound flight from Gatwick at the end of April has changed twice. Originally 1pm, then 11:30am, now 11am.

My return flight is earlier by 5 minutes.

I get emails a few days before my other half, which is odd.

For those who didn’t get emails on the changes, perhaps it’s how your tickets were booked, via VH as part of a package, VA direct as flight only, TAs as part of non Virgin Holidays package, or third party ticket sellers such as Expedia.
If you didn’t book direct with VA then VA may send the notification to the third party, or TA. They would then have to advise you.
If also depends on the communication preferences you may have entered when booking , ticking or unticking boxes to receive various informations or not.

our Glasgow flight in June is now 1hour 35 mind later so don’t get into MCO till 17:20 & return flight is just 15 mins later, got email today,

So now the Virgin (10:05) and TC (10:15) flights from Manchester are gonna arrive within 10 minutes of each other. That’s gonna make for a very crowded immigration hall!

Our TC 10:15 flight from Manchester was changed to 12:20 about 3 weeks ago although there is an Airtanker flight at 10:45. Not sure how many dates this affected.

Our TC flight on the 5th April is still showing as 10:15. Our return flight was changed to four hours later, which I don’t mind as it’s more time in the parks. It just seems daft to now have two flights from the same airport going to the same airport arriving within 10 mins of each other.

I booked my flights directly with Virgin Atlantic and haven't received any emails about the 2 lots of changes. I did receive a confirmation email about the original booking though. Whenever I book anything I always ensure preference for the relevant communication options.
