Dropped frames in videos...

Moving on from the interlacing discussion another common rendering error is the dropped frame. This in my case has affected a couple of streams but not the master DV or the DVD burnt copy.. I originally put it down to a processing error during the rendering process, but had to dismiss this due to the perfect master dv copy and dvd burn of the final cut. Then I decided It was an upload error but after 4 diffferent uploads I found it odd they all happened in the same place...In the end I now have the lowest quality file uploaded for this video in the hope that would solve the problem but it still hasnt gone away.. The area affected badly is the carousel and the Dumbo ride views.

Anyway thoughts please...

PS Can I also issue a warning re the latest Nvidia drivers new control panel which if tinkered with can play havoc with your video playback gamma, saturation etc settings..

Sorry DC I can't help, you lost me after interlacing, I guess I am a complete technophobe!

I would say, if the master DV stream is clear, then it has to be caused by the encoding codec.

It certainly wouldn't be an artifact of uploading, as you rightly say.

Try exporting the a raw DV version of the project into Premiere and encoding it there to see what you get. I will have a look at your video when I get up.

Oh, and thanks for the nod on nVidia drivers. They are the cause of many problems in peoples life.

Also the latest ATI drivers for the XT1900 are rubbish. The vertex code is all over the place, and parts of models in games like Planetside are missing!

Lifes just great sometimes .. You spend an hour woking on calibrating your monitor and then along comes nvidias latest driver AAARRGGHH...

People pay good money for that sort of thing, quit complaining.

Yeah, just go into a TV shop such as Dixons - erm, sorry, Currys.Digital (yuck!) - and see how nicely their TVs are set up - all really bright and colourful in a kidna Chavish sort of way.

Oh, and the audio systems will have both the Bass and Treble turned up full whack, so there's lots of boom/tish and no midrange!
