PS is this the sort of thing you mean.. I think the trip is to pan in hand with the car before the shutter is released and follow the car then hit the shutter whilst your matching the cars speed, following through all the way..

I use the panning with the car technique a lot, its not easy to get right, but can give a good sense of movement, Its not really relavent to my overexposure problem though.
Here is a pic of a Scooby WRC, The shutter speed is slow enough to give movement to the wheels, and panning the camera has slightly blurred the surroundings but kept the target sharp(ish). you can see that it was a very overcast day so OE was not a problem. |

Either ND filters to soak up some of that extra light you dont need..(though Im not sure you should need them)or just knock the exposure down in the camera by one or two thirds... what shutter speed are you talking about Alvin and are you using spot focus.. Thats a lovely shot..

Danny perhaps you could explain what you mean by knocking the exposure down in thirds. Im trying to use speeds of 1/125th or less. F stop range on my camera is 2.8 to 9.

Im talking ablout using the exposure compensation button on the camera, try minus a third or -0.33 on an overcast day (if its harsh sun you could try - 2/3 rds ).. In your case using exposure bracketing is out of the qustion as your one good photo in the bracket of three may be the one where the car has passed ideal spot.
