Same as everyone else on here ... importantly treat holidays as expenditure ...
One thing that boosts our spends ... Our council tax and water rates are paid monthly by dd for 10 months ... month 11&12 I transfer the amount to holiday spends boosts the amount significantly... What about surveys etc? I’ve done them on Quidco not a lot but like a dripping tap it adds up! |

On pay day we move all out goings into the bills account.
Then if we have events on: this months for example, Kos, seeing Elton John, sewing pink and a weekend in London and we put a set amount of money for each thing away. We keep back £20 a week each for misc that crops up in the week. Then everything we are left with goes straight into savings. Any change from the £20 a week/events goes into our savings jar. We are currently saving for our wedding so everything we possibly can needs to go in. We do have two jobs though so we can put away the equivalent of one persons wages from their main job most months.

I also have a holiday account that I transfer into by standing order, but I love the idea of adding £10 cash back to weekly shop, would be good for spending money!

Same here, it's the reason I work - that & the inevitable boredom if I didn't!

I did used to withdraw an extra £20 every time I used a cash machine and bung it in a savings tin at home.
I ended up with £1500 in cash but it was sat lying around my flat which I now realize isn't ideal so have stopped doing this... So now I just transfer it into a separate savings account.
