Eating away from the QSDP

Hi,

I'm off to Florida in August for the second time in August. Staying at POR hence I am on the QSDP. Two years ago we booked a couple of meals that weren't part of of the QSDP, at Beaches & Cream and Sci-Fi Dine in.

Would like to do the same same again this year, but not sure where. It needs to be somewhere interesting and themed, as per the two I did two years ago. Reading some of the other posts and trip Reports I like the sound of the Whispering Canyon, but I'm open to other suggestions. Nothing too fancy in terms of the food as I have a slightly fussy daughter.

Any suggestions welcome!

Cheers all!

50's Prime Time is a fun themed TS. It's at DHS. Biergarten at Germany has funny entertainment too. Be our Guest is a beautiful building inside and out and you can meet the Beast at dinner (MK).

We are also on QSDP and have planned a couple of OOP meals - we've gone for a Character Breakfast at Tusker House (AK) and we did have Via Napoli (EPCOT) booked, until I saw Art Smith's Homecoming (Disney Springs). Neither are particularly themed, but the menus are right up our street 😀

We have QSDP but will be having a meal at Rainforest Cafe or T-Rex (depending on which kids choose) with our $50 'birthday' credits on our Landry Cards

We're on the qsdp this year but are planning 4 OOP meals:
1. Raglan Road Brunch - loads of choice and DD really wants to see the Irish dancing
2. Rainforest Café with $50 on my Landrys card
3. Yak and Yeti with $50 on DH's Landrys card
4. Outback Steakhouse when we visit the Premium Outlets

Totally agree with the above person who mentioned Be Our Guest, the themeing is absolutely wonderful! The breakfast and lunch is available on QSDP but I found that the food and atmosphere was much better in the evening. At lunch time it seems very canteen-y, whereas in the evening it is much nicer.

Another I would suggest would be Trails End. Not themed as much but the food is great, and all you can eat. It is kind of rustic, and outside at some part of the evening chip and dale do a campfire sing-a-long

You might want to calculate what your OOP meals will cost you.

We did a few last year and found we didn't save much over what we would have spent upgrading to DDP. This year we've paid the difference for the full DDP.
