Depends which way you're going, I4/us17 is shorter but a bit of a 'mucky' route passing through towns with plenty of traffic lights and turns to watch out for and pretty much only local eating places with a few Macdonalds/Burger Kings etc. I4/I75 is a longer route but easier to follow with much more selection of eateries signposted along the way. Ellenton Mall is one of our stop offs usually. We're heading to Naples on Monday after a hectic couple of weeks and trying The Old Salty Dog in Venice for a change. Usually have plenty of time between vacating one villa and taking up the next one so we're going to stop off at Manasota Beach after the OSD to walk the Beach with the kids looking for shark's teeth. There's a free car park with 'facilities' right on the Beach. We use Naples to relax and as such there's not a lot of attractions as such. We always visit Tin City for a wander and a meal. You can hire a boat and travel up the inland waterway (we had dolphins alongside the boat one year) or you can take a buffet lunch cruise on one of the large boats at the marina opposite Tin City. There's a trolley tour from Tin City. We visited an open air museum several years ago which was south Naples, just off the 41 if I remember right. Will look for it again this year. You're not far from airboat rides in the Everglades, Corkscrew Sanctuary and lovely beaches (walk down 5th Ave South past nice shops and restaurants to the beach and pier at the bottom)

We travel to Naples on Monday for 2 weeks too. We will keep an eye on the weather forecast and book a sunset cruise on Sweet Liberty. They do daytime cruises too. Kayaking is a great option to see the wildlife up close. Do an airbag tour at Corey Billie's. We fish off Naples pier. Wal-Mart had all the supplies you would need. On Bonita Beach, you can hire all kinds of water sports. Let us know what you choose!

Just checking out the museum. It's the Collier County Museum at the Government Centre just off the 41 in East Naples. It's good for kids as well and it's free! Also check out the Depot Museum (railways) at the beginning of 5th Ave S, also free but on Saturdays until end of August they open up the shop with model railway and the outside model railway ride, site says 10 til 2, Trip Advisor says 10til 4! The shop and ride is $7 adults, $4 children.

It depends on your budget. Another dibber has said that Mel's Diner in Naples is a bit run down. We will go to Pinchers in Tin City. 2 for $22 at Yabbas on 5th Avenue before 630pm. Village Pub on Venetian Bay. Where are you staying?

River walk restaurant in Tin City with a table overlooking the water is one of our favourites, the guy we're renting from this year is a Naples resident and has recommended Inca's Kitchen (Peruvian), Roy's Restaurant ( a touch of Hawaiian cuisine) and Barbatella (Italian) a upscale eatery in the 3rd Avenue South district. Check out Tripadvisor.
