Fort Lauderdale

We are planning our trip for next year and have around 5 days to play with to try something different.

We will be staying in Siesta Key and then need to eventually (5 days) make our way to Miami for the flight home so wondering where to go. Would be interest to hear peoples thought on Fort Lauderdale. IS it worth a couple of nights?

The beach area of Fort Lauderdale is lovely, rest of Ft Lauderdale is hit or miss.

If you are looking for 2 days of beach relaxation, it is a nice choice. Last year I stayed at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort and found it to be lovely. Nice location, nice pool, small lazy river, amazing views.

I don't know about 'a couple' nights...perhaps 2 nights max.

Oh Fort Lauderdale is head and shoulders nicer than Miami.
We can't ever wait to get out of Miami and up to Fort Lauderdale!

We've stayed there a few times, but twice at Lago Mar Beach resort which is direct onto the beautiful white sands, very relaxing indeed.

Not keen at all on Miami, in our opinion the only thing worth seeing is the iconic Ocean Drive for the vibe and the beautiful Art Deco buildings.

All in our opinion, of course

Thanks for the recommendation - we're flying into Fort Lauderdale for a beach holiday taking in Naples/Key West and maybe Miami next year. I was going to book an airport hotel but instead I've booked two nights here as it looks great.

We stayed 4 nights at Fort Lauderdale in 2015. It is really beautiful, pristine beach with miles of promenade. We purchased water taxi tickets however wouldn't do it again as they do not operate on schedule. We waited longer on water taxis than were on them.
We know our way now would rather walk it.
Lovely restaurants on Las Olas boulevard.
We stayed at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach the rooms are huge with Balconies overlooking the beach.
I would recommend a waterways cruise. Amazing yachts.
