St Augustine.

Hi dibbers,
We have booked a day trip to St Augustine and have the hop on/off train tour.
My ds9 loves to visit old places and wants to visit the fort, fountain of youth and old jail. Would anyone be able to recommend any other places apart from the above as we can't do everything he wants ( he wants to see it all). Also would you recommend buying tickets on arrival or before we leave the UK.
Thanks in advance 😀😀

A few years since we went to St Augustine but we parked near the old jail and bought our train tickets there as well - hopefully it hasn't changed.

Lots of history there for you son including this.

We have visited St Augustine many times for over 25 years, going for 1 day really will limit you time wise. We always stay overnight, also when you buy the trolley tickets they are valid for more than 1 day. If you stay on the train/trolley and do the whole circuit it can take almost an hour, so hopping off and on you will have to time yourselves to pick up the next one so you are not wasting time. We buy our tickets when we arrive, never bought them in advance.

Thanks Mick, he was on about a school but I didn't take it all in, he's so looking forward to it and was just mentioning loads of different things we could all do. Definitely will visit there too.
Thanks again..

The pirate museum maybe? Make sure you see them firing the cannons at Castillo de San Marcos too! It is LOUD!

One day isn't enough, you may wish to consider staying the night, there are some me lovely B and B's. If your son is into Pirates the pirate museum is worth a look. When you visit the fort make sure you are there when they set the cannon off and do a firearm demonstration.

I've not seen our regular St Augustine resident Dibber, Ilivehere for ages. Hope she's OK?

We have just booked this last minute but promised him next time we will stay overnight. Thanks for the advice on the trolley as I wasn't to sure how long it took. We will plan a route and get a timetable so we make good use of our time.
Thanks for replying.

Hi Mick
Funnily enough I have thought the same, not seen any threads from her recently, as you say hope all is well, maybe she is travelling. She would certainly have replied to this thread.

Pam

I think she comes back "home" once a year and does a bit of a tour.

Not long for you now though. Don't forget the Funie Steed Road surfacing report.
