Clearwater
Hi
Do you think Clearwater is too far to go for a day? What exactly is there to do there other than the beach?

We always go to St. Pete`s for the day which is a bit further down the Gulf Coast and prefer it there to Clearwater. We go to the beach first for a few hours and then go down to the pier. You can check out the pier here stpete-pier

Clearwater is fine for a day. We booked a coach trip, which included tickets for the seascreamer - huge speed boat which takes you out round the bay, you usually get to see loads of dolphins that come to play in the wake. There are several other boat trips you can go on - pirate cruise, shell collecting etc. There are cheapy souvenir type shops, a pier with a cafe, a large sand based childrens playground & swimming pool, and of course the lovely white sand beach.

Clearwater is fine for a day out and will not take too long, but if your not a beach person then a full day is probably too much. Well worth it just for a trip on seacreamer, we went on it twice last year and had dolphins jumping from the back of the boat aboaut 2 metres from us, it was fantastic. Or, as suggested above after Clearwater take a trip to St Pete's, we did that and took in a baseball game, now that really was terrific. I'm not a sports fan but throroughly enjoyed the game.

Would love to watch a baseball game - am planning a day trip to the beach - think its going to be St Petes, in May. Do you need to organise tickets for games in advance, and is there any way of finding out info on sports events before we go? Also, is there anything similiar to seascreamer at St Petes?
