Candle are fine in your hand luggage, but the gel type candles have to go in the hold.

I got pulled for extra inspection through security at MCO in September when I had them in my hand luggage. They let me keep them in my hand luggage but were a bit grumpy about having to empty my case to look at them

I always worry with so many heavy glass candles in hand luggage that they would be dangerous if bag/case fell out of storage locker on to someone's head so I pack in case in the hold. Plenty of towels around them and they have always been fine

I had this discussion with BA management many years ago... Staff said my 11kg of hand luggage was unsafe in the overhead bins in case it fell out and hit someone - when I questioned why they were trying to kill their most precious passengers in First (18kg limit as it was then) they changed their mind
Weight limit is now 23kg. Have you ever tried to lift a 23kg bag above your head? You won't need a doctor if it falls on your head |
