To Disney or not?

hi Dibbers.

I am after some advice, I am sure you can help!

last time in Florida was 2015 and last time in Disney was 2011.

This year going in October for first time and want to do Halloween horror nights so will probably get 14 day universal with the new water park and a few horror nights tickets.

Is it worth going back to Disney? We thought nothing had changed on last visit and everything was old and dated and we had done it all when son was small? We have not done the Epcot food festival. We are not bothered about water parks and will be happy with trying Universal's new one.

the last time we went it also felt like I was at work having to plan rides and meals six months in advance! but now it's even worse with apps etc. You will have to book the toilets soon!

Would it be worth getting MYW tickets for a few nights? The prices are so expensive for Disney that I am struggling to justify it.

We always stay offsite in villa. and this will be our sixth trip so we are pretty familiar with the setup. ( I.e. I have never needed a star nav!).

Any advice or other people's ideas on tickets most welcome.

Thanks

We were in Orlando with our teens in 2015. We had a brilliant time in Universal, lots of fun at Typhoon Lagoon and, despite the planning, a pretty miserable day at Magic Kingdom; lots of unhappy toddlers, staff, queues. My daughter and I love Peter Pan and the likes (which we couldn't get near in 2015). She went back to Paris in the autumn with mates and had a brilliant time.

We're back in July with 14 day unlimited passes to Universal and currently thinking we might give WDW a miss. What we would like to see (Star Wars world) isnt open till next year, tickets are so expensive for a couple of days so we're probably going to give it a miss and maybe do Busch Gardens and a bit of the coast, weather permitting.

We got the discovery cove tickets with sea world and Busch gardens thrown in. We also went to fort Myers beach for 5 days. These tickets we thought were good value. Loved fort Myers. Was laid back and walked out every night for meal drink. Condo overlooking beach was not cheap but worth it!

My kids are young and Disney for us is just not enjoyable.dont get me wrong it's amazing.but I always laugh when I watch the Disney adverts showing the most perfect family holiday for us it's never like that in Disney lol it's an amazing place but just not for us. My kids love universal, seaworld and legoland.

Totally agree. I was quite shocked actually when we went to Magic Kingdom. Admittedly, it was a dreadfully hot day in July but there were an awful lot of Mums with buggies, toddlers etc looking like they did not have much fun. We had queues in Universal but nothing like that day in MK. We had been spoilt by the whole theming, water sprays, shaded experience.

That said, I may just plump for a 1-day park hopper with my daughter and let the boys enjoy some golf.

And we are going for some days on the Gulf Coast beaches for sure.
