The re-scheduled Spitfire fly-past is going ahead today - just over Northallerton on its way to Teesside Airport now.

It will be in the Durham and Newcastle areas from around 1350 this afternoon.

I think I heard it fly over our hospital but didn’t see it...the sound wasn’t that loud but it was pretty windy.

I was lucky enough to be close up , but it was a lot smaller than I thought.
We have a replica life size Spitfire as a tribute , mounted on a roundabout in Thornaby on Tees. Part of the old airfield used in WW2 and linked to Goosepool (Canadian crews)a base for Lancasters.
Goosepool then became Middleton St George and then Teesside airport.
Every part of the estates around named after aircraft or aviation.
Lancaster Way
Vulcan
Victor
Bader
Heathrow
Ringway
Stanstead
Just a few examples.
