I honestly don;t understand this years Uni generation. They went to uni knowing this was a very different year to before. If they all just locked down and followed the rules for a month or so they would all be past the infection rate - assuming they came in to uni with the virus, then parties would be much less of a risk for them and they could spend the rest of the year in a far more near normal way. At this rate they will all be in a full lockdown.
I really feel for you, it is so hard having them go off in normal times, this is so much harder.

There will be someone in charge of her block usually a third year or a masters student ( they get accommodations free &!paid to do it ) leave it up to your daughter to sort, also should she be going into any flat ! I don’t know the rules in that area

They’ll be the same as any other new intake of first years .
They’re excited to be away from home , they’ve been told covid doesn’t really affect younger people by the government and they haven’t been able to party or do anything at home for months because of lockdown and then closures so it really is not surprising that they’ve gone full throttle freshers .
I think it’s unfair of people to demonise them , they need educating not people turning on them and blaming them for everything .
They probably aren’t thinking about spreading it to their families right now as they’re away till December (most of them) so don’t need to worry for now .
I bet if it was a lot of us back then we wouldn’t have all been quietly studying in our rooms .

they knew exactly what they should have done, just as Sam7 pointed out, the Uni's i know people have gone to were told to stay in small " pods "

they made the choice not to and to crack on with parties with ALOT of others ( one video ive seen must have had 100 plus students dancing around )

I am afraid to say they are to blame, we cannot make excuses for them ( which is the problem they have, they can never be at fault for anything )
